1. Let us know a bit about yourself

I have a bachelor degree in Fashion Merchandising and I worked for a few years at chain store’s head offices as an assistant-buyer and distribution analyst. I’ve always been passionate about trends and fashion.  Over time, I realized I really wanted to have my own business, have the opportunity to design my jewelry line and make all the decisions from A to Z; from the buying process to photo editing pictures to show online.

2. What do you make?

I make jewel using sterling silver, 14k gold-filled and vermeil, and I like to mix these material with colorful Swarovski crystals and genuine gemstones. I personally tend to invest in accessories that will stay beautiful years after years.  That’s why it was important for me to make jewelry using great quality material. I particularly like to use gold-filled since it pretty much has the exact same properties as real solid gold – without the huge cost!  I can offer a great quality product at an affordable price.

3. Where do you find inspiration?

I’ve always been passionate about fashion; not only about clothes and accessories, but home design as well.  We were really involved in the design and construction process of my new house. I had so much fun choosing everything; railing, moulding, colour, wallpaper, ceramics, plumbing accessories, etc.  I love everything related to design.

My artistic approach is basically the wish to offer fashionable, trendy pieces that still have a classic and timeless feel to it. I’m inspired by nature, leaf charms, nautical charms, filigrees, etc. I like to use neutral pieces mixed with a touch of colour such as a delicate Swarovski crystal or a sparkling chalcedony gemstone. I try to make jewelry that looks good with every outfit, from a casual jeans & t-shirt outfit to a chic dress.

4. How long has your Etsy shop been open?

I launched my Etsy Shop, Créations de La Berge, at the end of June, so it’s been online for two months now.

5. Do you still have time to make crafts for pleasure while running your online business?

Yes!  I don’t think I could get tired of it!  I like making jewelry for myself, and also for others, it’s a passion, I love to be able to design jewelry and see the final result. The most rewarding thing about this whole process is when you read awesome feedback from your clients.

6. What inspired you to move your art into an online business?

Like many people, I started making jewelry for myself.  Then I got so many great compliments from friends and family, and I enjoy doing it so much, I thought selling online was a great idea. It’s a good way to keep on being creative. I also always wanted to learn how to manage an online store.

7. What are your future goals for your shop, and do you have a plan for achieving them?

I started to look at actual retail stores in Montréal.  I think it might be a good way to find new clients. In a near future, I would like to be part of the “Salon des métiers d’art de Montréal”.  It’s the ultimate artisan trade fair in Montréal.
