My friend Kiri got married recently, and I wanted to make her a small canvas memento from her beautiful bird-themed wedding invitation.

I began by creating a soft background, blending blue, green, and white paints.  I love using a sponge brush for this.  Using the tip of the brush, I brushed linear white streaks.

While the paint dried, I cut out shapes from the invitation (cream paper) and the invitation envelope (blue paper) using my favourite Fiskars punches, various sizes of the Square-Licious squeeze punch and the extra large Round ‘n Round squeeze punch.

The invitation featured die-cut birds, so when I layered it on top of the blue envelope, the birds really popped.

Using Mod Podge and an additional sponge brush, I layered the punched paper pieces and a larger cut of the original invitation.

I had forgotten to take a picture after the Mod Podge dried, but after drying, the majority of the paper bubbles had settled and flattened.
