1. Let us know a bit about yourself.

By day I work behind the scenes of an online store for a major cellphone service provider. My days mostly consist of analysing people’s credit and preventing fraud (I like to think this could be my superpower!). When I’m not in the office I am usually enjoying the quiet nature of my riverside Montréal home. I also enjoy cooking, crafting and playing with my two ferrets Skittle and Belette.

2. What do you make?

I like to dabble in a bit of everything. I could not say I make just one product, but yet multiple products for different aspects of your life and surroundings. At the moment I currently make paintings, jewelry, prints, and magnets.

3. Where do you find inspiration?
I find my inspiration in everything, from nature to the people around me. I also have an obsession with colour palette pins on Pinterest (you can follow my obsession here: http://pinterest.com/mishbeausejour/colours/ ).

My process after I’ve found inspiration usually goes that I’ll start with a sketch, which will then turn into a painting, which in turn will branch out as insparation for jewerly, home decor, and whatever else I can imagine. I like to think that my possibilities are endless!

4. How long has your Etsy shop been open?

I’ve been lurking Etsy for a good couple years although I finally decided to take the leap and open my shop Boutique Beauséjour on Aug 13, 2011.
I was always unsure about opening my own shop but I’ve had the biggest support from my Boyfriend, friends and family.

I’m still working on more stock for my shop and things are starting slowly but I really like the idea that I can offer my art and products to a wider audience.

5. Do you still have time to make crafts for pleasure while running your online business?

With working full time, running an Etsy shop, being a Craftcore columnist, and trying to find time to live a normal life I have a hard time getting down to doing leisurely crafts. Although any art or craft I do may it be for myself or for a client I find it all pleasurable.

6. What inspired you to move your art into an online business?

I’ve received a lot of feedback from my boyfriend, friends and family that I should look into selling my art. At the time I had one friend whom was already selling on Etsy and this gave me the idea that it would be a good start. After opening my shop I’ve found it to be way more than just posting pictures and selling. I’ve learned so much in the past year from opening my shop about search engine optimization and getting my shop found. All of this has been a wonderful learning experience!

7. What are your future goals for your shop, and do you have a plan for achieving them?
Right now I’ve been focusing on adding new stock to my shop. I’ve also wanted to move into silk screening for a new line of products. Other then that I want to bring my shop out more onto the field and participate in more fairs and perhaps the possibility to bring my products into a permanent store front.

8. Where can we find more about you online? (web site, social media, etc)
